AIC using interactions NAs and -infinity in R

I have a dataset containing around 25 variables. When I apply all of the ^2 interactions I get lots of NA values and I was confused as to why this is the case. Also when applying the stepAIC() command I then get a -infinity error. Are there any ways of working with interactions and AIC? And is the error due to having so many variables?
